About Us
Founded in 2013, the North East Students' Group was born out of a vision to foster inclusivity for students from the North Eastern region of India and to celebrate the richness of their cultures and traditions within the college community. In its efforts to create a more welcoming environment for all, it also includes the regions of Ladakh and Darjeeling, making space for voices often unheard.
Through vibrant events, including the much anticipated annual North East Fest 'Panorama', seminars, screenings and a host of creative competitions, the society offers a platform for expression, dialogue, and cultural pride - helping bridge communities and spark awareness.

Our Story
In an effort to create something deeply personal and rooted in who we are, we've stepped into this virtual space - a corner of the digital world where we share the stories of our people, the rhythms of our lives, and the beauty of our traditions. Here, from the heart of our homeland, we carry stories in our bones and roots in our hearts.
This is the North-East - raw, radiant, and real.
"Echoes from the Hills" is a humble offering of love and admiration by the North East Students' Group of Janki Devi Memorial College - a tribute to the vibrant, diverse culture that shapes us.
This blog is a reflection of the spirit of the eight states that form the North East : Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim - along with the breathtaking regions of Ladakh and Darjeeling.
Through stories, reflections, and lived experiences, we hope to nurture a deeper appreciation for the customs, art, food, and heritage of these enchanting hills. By sharing our world, we aim to build a bridge - connecting hearts, sparking curiosity, and celebrating the spirit of a region that continues to aspire of a region that continues to inspire.
Join us on this journey through the echoes of the hills - and experience the heartbeat of the North-East, with a gentle detour into thr soul of Ladakh and Darjeeling.
